Runwal Group was founded in 1978, when its founding father Subhash Runwal, a trained accountant who had migrated to Mumbai as a teenager, started building houses and finally shopping centres in the city and suburbs. As a group, it can also be credited with having given rise to the modern mall concept in Mumbai with R City in the suburban expansion of Ghatkopar along with several R Mall buildings in the Ribandi regions of Thane and Mulund, which sets them apart from developers dealing in exclusively residential property. The original Runwal Group has been divided into two entities in the name of Runwal Group: Runwal Realty (led by Sandeep Runwal) and Runwal Enterprises (led by Subodh Subhash Runwal), where each operates separately and with the same family name to undertake projects of its own.
Now Runwal Realty has established itself as a luxury and lifestyle brand with high rise properties like Runwal Malabar in Mumbai's South, Runwal Auris and Runwal Elegante in Mumbai's Western suburban area, and Runwal One, Thane, supported by the Singapore's GIC, and over 30 years of delivery experience. The name Runwal is among the better known ones in Mumbai's residential and retail segment owing to more than three million sq.ft. it has delivered through dozens of completed projects as also having a long pipeline in the Mumbai, Thane and Pune region too.
